All About Round Top Texas Antiques Week
Y’all, I LOVE Round Top Texas Antiques Week and I get SO MANY questions about it so I am answering all the FAQ’s about Round Top for you here as well as sharing the highlights from the past week. I ventured to Round Top with 9 other female entrepreneurs for a master mind meet up set in the dreamy town of Burton, Texas. 
What is Round Top?
That’s what most people want to know. It is a twice a year giant antiques festival that spans miles and miles of country roads in the tiny town of Round Top, Texas. It isn’t just a field of antique vendors it is fields and fields, rows and rows, tent after tent, barn after barn full of vintage shopping adventure. Where is Round Top?
Good question! It is a tiny town in the heart of Texas, one and a half hours Northwest of Houston, about an hour and fifteen minutes East of Austin and three and a half hours south of Dallas. When the festival is not happening Round Top is a small town that you just might miss if you blink when driving through. Burton is a precious little town about 10 minutes from all the action of antiques week.
What do you do in Round Top and when is Round Top?
Well – you shop! The most amazing vintage and antique vendors come from all over the US and bring treasures from across the pond to sell. The large event only happens twice a year in April and October, you can check this site for details. I like to drive down to Warrenton for the best deals. Sometimes you have to dig through the fields to find the good stuff! There are also some stores that are open year round like the Junk Gypsies and Old Glory. 
Round Top and the little town of Burton, Texas are also the perfect backdrop for a girl weekend, couples get away or retreats. The setting is nothing less than dreamy, so don’t hesitate to visit at other times of the year because there is still a ton to see and do, plus you can just enjoy the laid back small town pace for a relaxing vacation. 
Where do I stay in Round Top?
We stayed at the Heritage Sunday House, in Burton, Texas, it is one of my favorite places and I have stayed there many times. The owner, Diane, is as sweet as she can be, the decor is so cozy and warm, the food is from the heart and the two wandering town peacocks are icing on the cake. Burton is a short drive to the fields in Round Top, but the town has a handful of precious shops that are worth visiting. 
Where do I eat in Round Top?
Back in the old days there were a very limited number of places to eat in the area, but now you have some amazing dining selections. We ate breakfast at the Blue Willow Cafe in Burton, it was delicious and charming! Two local favorites are Royer’s Cafe and Royer’s Pie Haven for a sweet treat. My sweet friend Tara Royer Steele runs the pie place and she is a slice of perfection all her own. 
If you want a super special dinner in the most elegant setting that will make you feel like you traveled overseas then you MUST book a dinner at Badar Ranch. You will seriously adore it. Dine surrounded by French antiques and eat a meal served up by legendary chef Lance Fegen of Liberty Kitchen in Houston. 
Our night at Badar Ranch was one we all will never forget, it was magical. Badar Ranch is only open for two weeks at a time, twice a year during the Antiques show so you must add it to you list when you visit.
What Should I Wear to Round Top?
I suggest layers – the temperature can be super hot to downright chilly all in the same day! But you definitely want to dress the part! Grab a cute t-shirt from my Mercantile like this one! Comfy shoes are a must as well, you’ll do a ton of walking. Don’t forget the sunscreen – a long day in the Texas sun can lead to a burnt neck!

Great tips and insight! One of my friends is Jill Suzanne and has the Showhouse there at Roundtop. She has the best store in my hometown but I can’t wait to visit her at Roundtop. It’s definitely on my must-do list for 2020!

I’m very interested in more info about the Round Top trip. I live in Indiana and it has been on my bucket list for years, but worried I wouldn’t get the whole experience on my own! This would be so fun and perfect. Can’t wait to hear from you and hopefully start planning.
