My mom and I were hunting for old sweaters when I came across the FREE box at a local thrift store. It was one of those moments when God spoke to me instantly. I was bothered by these items being free. That sounds so weird. You're looking at a girl who loves free stuff more than the law should allow. But nonetheless I was taken aback because I saw such potential and value in this box of glass vases.I immediately retrieved five vases from the box and paid for them on my way out. Yes, I said they ... continue reading...

Holiday Art – Instant Vintage Holiday
I held off as long as I could...the kids were chomping at the bit to decorate for Halloween. I made them wait for October 1st. When I was little I was just like them, always anxious to decorate for the upcoming holiday season. Honestly, I still feel the same way, finding time just gets harder as you get older. When I pull down the boxes of holiday décor, no matter the holiday, it's always fun to see what's been hiding away the past year. It feels new each year. I can hardly remember what I ... continue reading...
Easy Cheesecloth Ghosts
You're in for a quick and easy project today! Cheesecloth ghosts are nothing new. I didn't make them up. BUT... my oh so crafty mom, aka Deedles, put a twist on this craft that makes it a cinch. She is always thinking up something fun to do with the kids and this is one of their latest products. Start with the following supplies (affiliate links for your convenience): Cheesecloth Stiffen Stuff Fabric Stiffener Balloons Plastic cups Optional: markers and ... continue reading...
Go Bold For A Pop of Paint Color
A while back I got a call from a friend saying there was a double rocker on her neighbor's curb. She wondered if I wanted it. The answer is always yes. I love that she thought of me :) The rocker did need some work. The entire seat was rotted out. I forgot to take a picture before my handy husband re-seated it for me. You can see the paint was dull and moldy. Not to inviting for porch sittin', tea drinkin' and story swapin'. We shorten our words a lot in the ... continue reading...
Cotton Arrangement
Continuing from the Monday theme if inspired by nature I must confess: I have a thing for cotton. I know it's all the rage right now. I got my first bunch of it over a year ago. I loved it then and I love it more now. My friend gave me a fresh bunch just a few days ago. When I was at her house picking it up I noticed these amazing pea pods littering the yard by her driveway. She and her neighbor have these crazy big thorned trees known as Jerusalem Trees. I can promise ... continue reading...
Hunt & Host Hangouts Vol. 1
For a while now I have been wanting to share with you some of the spots I "hang out" either in the real or virtual world. Writing a blog causes me to wander around and network a bunch in my little corner of the web. I always appreciate when someone weeds through and filters things down for me, so this is the place where I do that for YOU! I'm not sure I will have a hang out edition every week, but more when the mood strikes me. I hope you enjoy these things as much as I do! This week ... continue reading...
Old Fashioned, Plus a Deal
They just don't make things like they used to. This thought sifts through my mind as I sift through flea markets and antique stores. This completely true observation has to be one of the main reasons I like old stuff. Things were built better in the past. With more care, built to last, often handmade and out of quality materials. Nowadays things are driven by quantity and cost. That works for some stuff. But other things just don't ring true with this M.O. I often wish I lived in the ... continue reading...
Choosing Fabric Online
Tips for choosing fabric online I have these two wing back chairs. I love them. I bought them at a garage sale over ten years ago. The have traveled across the country and spent time in a variety of rooms in our house. They are well loved and overly worn. My sweet dog called them home. In his old age he would sit in them and lick the fabric. Nothing was on it. It's just what he did. He was 17 after all. Totally gross. Now that he has passed away it was time to give these chairs a face ... continue reading...
