This is an easy & fun project that has endless possibilities. When decorating this fun free spirited craft room we needed a window treatment that was light and airy, let natural light flow in and gave way to daydreaming. What could be better than a fade to blue sky scene? I started off with inexpensive gauze fabric from Hobby Lobby. I used navy blue Rit dye, this is where you could dream big in any color. Gather a bucket with hot water, some scissors and you are all set.sky blue diy curtains

Gently put the length of fabric you would like colored into the hot dye bath, per instructions on packaging. (Note: this was my first attempt at fabric dying and I left the fabric in the dye to long. It turned more purple than blue. I thought longer = darker, but not so. Follow their directions. I re-dyed the fabric after it dried and it came out perfect. If you mess up you don’t necessarily need to buy new fabric.)DIY sky blue curtains, no sew I dipped in the desired length and gradually pulled it out in time intervals to help with a fade effect.DIY Sky blue no sew curtains

Wash and ring out fabric, let dry completely. Next snip fabric every 1 inch or so. This does not have to be an exact measurement. The snip is your starting point. Just rip the length of the fabric from there.DIY sky blue no sew curtains

You will need to find a curtain rod of some sort. This workspace was for the Farm Girl office (see the whole makeover here) so we went the fun route with old yard tools. You can be creative here too…I love curtain rods made out of tree branches, fishing poles, golf clubs, whatever works.DIY sky blue no sew curtains

Hang the rod first. You will place the fabric strips on the hung rod, it is much easier to get spacing right this way. You can also cut the correct length once hung, if needed.DIY sky blue no sew curtains

We cut a small slit in the fabric and used it to loop the fabric around the rod and through it’s self. It takes a few minutes to get all the pieces up, but once you do…your done. And it is dreamy.DIY sky blue no sew curtains

And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water. So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. God called the expanse “sky”. Genesis 1:6-8DIY sky blue no sew curtains
