DIY Easter Egg Sign

Make a precious DIY Easter egg sign! Easter is such a special holiday and while it is so important to spend time giving thanks and praise for the meaning of it, it’s also fun to do some Easter crafts for adults! Yes you can bring the kids into this Easter egg sign making idea, but have fun with it for yourself too – it’s so easy and inexpensive to do that it’s perfect for a group or class.

If you’ve been here a while you know I love to paint fabric, specifically drop cloth! It’s so versatile. I made this easy Easter Egg sign with some scrap wood I stained and a variety of watercolor painted drop cloth eggs. Go crazy, get creative, show me what you make! I started by tracing some felt eggs from the Dollar Tree with a Sharpie. Next I got the fabric damp with a sponge brush and then start painting with  acrylic craft paint. Remember to give your egg dimension by painting in curved strokes instead of up and down like you would if the egg were 3D. Add polka dots, chevron patterns, plaid, splatter or just keep it simple. There are so many options!

Next I glued down my eggs with a hot glue gun, leaving them loose so I could stuff them for added dimension. Stuff them with batting of whatever fluff you have handy. Glue them shut. You want to start from the bottom and layer up on this part!

Once you get your eggs lined up add Easter grass, moss or scrunch up some burlap like I did and glue it down with a hot glue gun! Then add a scrap bow ( I used Dollar Tree bandannas in mine!) or leave it plain, it’s up to you! I love how easy this Easter egg sign is to make and you can hang it on a wall, add it to a vignette, make it giant for a door hanger…so many ideas! Mine is propped up on my kitchen back-splash.  Pin this idea for later so you don’t forget about it!
