Go Bold For A Pop of Paint Color

A while back I got a call from a friend saying there was a double rocker on her neighbor’s curb. She wondered if I wanted it. The answer is always yes.

I love that she thought of me 🙂

The rocker did need some work. The entire seat was rotted out. I forgot to take a picture before my handy husband re-seated it for me.

You can see the paint was dull and moldy. Not to inviting for porch sittin’, tea drinkin’ and story swapin’.  We shorten our words a lot in the South.

Then, this summer I won a jar of Front Porch Paint while at the Haven Conference.  I could pick any color from a mind boggling array of choices. It was all my brain could do to NOT pick another shade of gray, or cream or blah blah basic. It almost pained me, but the brave little voice inside said pick a bold color.

So I picked a deep, rich, bold plum color called Playful…

I have NEVER been a purple person. At the time I wasn’t sure what I would use it for, but I knew I was already pining for Fall. It was over 100° outside after all.

I figured if this paint was good for a no fade door it was good for a no fade rocker.

Bold colors aren’t for everyone and they aren’t for every space. Outside is a great place to experiment with a color palette that wouldn’t normally work in your home. You have a bit more freedom to change it up.

  4. How lovely! When we remodeled our master bath I choose purple paint. I chose a dark shade which I offset with bright white trim and doors. It is just enough to personalize the room but not so much that it’s gwady. I love to add pops of unexpected colors in my home. The way the purple rocker adds a calming effect to the bright oranges is wonderful. You did a great job. It really welcomes you in to sit, talk and rock a while.

Fall is outrageous with color to wind up another year of color before winter. Bless you from another “Holly”

  9. I am a purple kind of girl. I have the opposite problem with color…I tend to go overboard. I really have to hold myself back. But this little rocker makeover is the perfect soothing tone to go with the pops of orange. Keep showing me how to get it done tastefully! I love it!

  11. Absolutely love this color. I admit I have to calm myself down with color because if I went with my likes,my house would look like a circus. This is just the prettiest color. Gotta find a place to use it.
