Power In Neutral: Faux Bois fabric

I don’t have words for how much I love this fabric. Seriously.
I am a sucker for black and white, anything houndstooth or damask, but then I found this…
Faux Bois fabric. I love the scale of the pattern and the neutral colors. It makes my heart happy.

Here’s how this piece of furniture came to be neutral perfection.
A while back I had a garage sale and my mom brought over a ton of stuff. This chair was in the pile and I promptly pulled it from the driveway and hide it away in the house. Only to send it back home with her. I don’t do fabric well and I needed this amazing faux bois fabric on this chair pronto!!!
This chair has been around as long as I can remember and the “leather” on it was nasty by now. Otherwise it is a solid chair. It’s proof that things, like the brassy finish on the frame, come back around.
I was responsible for sanding down and re-staining the arms, if that even counts (which I think it does). I used a watered down black milk paint and rubbed it on then wiped it off. I followed that by lightly sanding the arm pieces to allow some wood grain to show through. Mom did the rest. Thanks mom!!!
This gorgeous fabric came from Minted.com. You’ve heard me profess my love for their products before, but this is by far my favorite. They were kind enough to give me the fabric for this project. This made over chair now resides at my husband’s desk in all it’s neutral splendor. I’m not sure he’s as fired up about as I am, but he pretends nicely.
The great thing about neutral is it doesn’t equal boring. It can be bold, powerful and it gets along with everything! Don’t you think this fabric would be amazing as long drapes or as a bed skirt? What else would you use it for?
