Make Your Own Upcycled DIY Tray with Tin Trim 
This little project combined a few things I had lying around. I hope you like how they all come together in this little DIY tray that would be perfect for holiday or coffee table styling. I was given some random speakers a friend came across. She knows I like junk. 🙂 Aren’t they the coolest? When I got them I took them apart and had to give them a massive bath. I thought they would be great pedestals and as I was messing with them this past week the idea of making them jingle bells occurred to me. 
I was already knee deep in this DIY tray with a fun pedestal base so I rolled with that and painted one speaker shell black with satin finish spray paint. Next I had a leftover piece of wood I was going to use for a locker shelf, but ended up not needing it, so I made it my tray base. 
Over the summer I met the sweet ladies from M-D Building products and got some great sheet metal to work with. I have been wanting to try some different things with their cool products, this was my first go at it. The metal sheets are super easy to cut with tin snip scissors, so I cut the edges of a sheet to fit my piece of wood. 
I nailed the two long sides in place with fat head finishing nails. For the ends, I bent the metal sheet so it would hug the outside of the side pieces and nailed it in place. 
This makes the corners “finished”. The metal was super easy to work with, easy to form and nail. 
I have this sweet tray displayed on top of the speaker pedestal…what do you think, do you like the tray alone or on the base? I haven’t glued it yet because I can’t decide. I think it would look pretty with greenery around the base and candles or decor on the tray. I’d really like to her your opinion on this one please!?
Use it like that. Then you have the two. Unless people touch it, it should be fine. Then you can use it for bells too. I do like it as you picture. The tray is beautiful. Love the speakers too.

I LOVE THIS! What a creative use for them! I like the tray on the base. I don’t think you should glue them together though. If you leave them separate you can easily pick the tray up to use to serve or carry away empty coffee cups etc then place it back on the base. The base being attached might make it awkward to actually try and use it in a utilitarian way. If you are planning to use it solely as decore then I think gluing it would be a good idea to make it sturdier so it all depends on what your final plans are for it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you made something so beautiful out of extras bits and pieces. I think these types of projects are so fun to make and test our true creativity. The metal you used is absolutely beautiful and was a great choice for this

Well , it seems I agree with everyone else here. The tray is lively, but keep it separate- the bells are a wonderful idea and I would love to see them as well
