All About Texas Junk Journal
I love Texas. So I made a junk journal all about the great state of Texas. 🤠⭐

I’m sure there are other places that are nicer, for sure cooler places, spots with more rain and parts of the world that actually get all four seasons. But Texas is special and has my heart.

I actually created this little Texas junk journal for a friend. My friend Laura McCollough, who owns Art & Faith Creative Retreats, is holding a scholarship fundraising event this year.

Laura holds amazing European art and faith retreats. I was supposed to go to one in 2022, but got the dreaded COVID and ended up giving my spot to a wonderful lady who follows along online.

Someday, I’ll make it to one of Laura’s retreats, because as much as I love Texas, I love to see the world! The timing just hasn’t worked out yet.

Her fundraiser’s goal is to offer a scholarship for a lucky lady to attend her retreat for free. Isn’t that so sweet? She will be auctioning off art in an online event this coming summer. I’m thrilled to be a part of the adventure! I just wish I was ATTENDING the event, LOL!

I figured if I lived in Italy, I’d want to have something from somewhere else…so a book about Texas felt right. (I’d love to have Italian items like books, pages and vintage ephemera!)

I covered all the basics about Texas – the Mockingbird, yellow roses, BBO, HEB, Blue Bonnets, Bucee’s, Football, Whataburger, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Rattlesnakes, cattle drives, boots, cowboy hats, denim and lace.

There’s more to our great state, but this was a solid start! You can see through the pages I included these things and so much more!

Tons of Red, White, and Blue.

Denim, bandanas, pearl snap shirts and extra trim.

Vast landscapes of deserts to rivers to swamps.

We have all the critters – armadillos, birds, snakes, deer and more.

Big bright stars in the expansive Texas night sky.

From Cactus to Pecan trees, roses and bluebonnets – our scenery is diverse.

Don’t forget our small Texas towns with precious courthouse squares, full of Southern hospitality.

What’s your favorite state? You can make your own junk journal to celebrate it! I’d love to hear all about it!?

Being a fellow Texas gal, I absolutely love this! I can’t believe you even got the Blue Bell Ice Cream incorporated! (Though I do like the Texas Two Step!)
can’t leave Blue Bell out if you’re a real Texan lol!!!! xoxo and ALL the flavors are great!
I’m also a native, this is right on the money! So cute. One of my favorites is Dr. Pepper! “Dr Pepper is the oldest soft drink in America. Older than Coca-Cola, in fact, by a full year. It was created in 1885 by a pharmacist, Charles Alderton, in Waco, Texas. And its original name was Waco – it was served there at the soda fountain in the drugstore.”
yes! Love Dr. Pepper and it’s story – I’ve been to the museum in Waco too!! so fun
This Texas book is awesome ! I love it!
thanks a bunch! xoxo
This is amazing! I’ve been a Texas transplant for many years and I think you got it covered, not sure you missed anything! This will be a wonderful gift for someone.
Thanks Stacy, I had a ton of fun making it!
Great representation of Texas.
I’d love information on the retreat you were referring too. It sounds like something I’d enjoy!
I linked her website in the article, you can visit to see all the events Laura has planned! Hope you get to go to one!
