Do you need something GREAT to hang on your wall? Some budget wall decor for a large wall. Or small, this would work in a small space too.
I have a super idea for you and if you stick with me you’ll catch the best budget buster tip for this idea!
I had this rug (above) that I love the design of, but it was so thin and moved around on the floor, even with a rug pad under it. It just wasn’t functional as a rug. Queue the tears.
Instead of donating it or selling it I decided to go vertical with it and use it as a gorgeous wall tapestry. I have two story ceilings in my living room, so this long rug runner did wonders for the large wall space on my stairs that sat empty and lonely.
Side note – I was going to use it in my bathroom, but sometimes I have to marinate on ideas and change my mind!
To turn my rug into a wall hanging I folded the top edge back and sewed it together leaving enough room to slide a curtain rod in. If you didn’t want to sew you could use fabric glue, but allow it to dry overnight for complete adhesion. 
I used a new (to me) curtain rod for this project and it was one of the easiest things I’ve ever used and I’ve hung A LOT of stuff in my days. I wish I would have known about these curtain rods years ago, maybe they weren’t around!?
Who knows, but they are on my favorites list now! It literally hangs with two nails in each side.

Budget Wall Decor Source Guide:
If you end up using an inexpensive rug remember you can always add trim to the bottom for extra decor. Use store bought trim or make your own pom poms to secure for a fun finish.

I did this 10 years ago! I used E6000 to glue a fabric pocket on the back of a thick heavy music note carpet to hang it on the wall with a curtain rod because we lived in a carpeted condo with nowhere to lay it! Great minds think alike! : )

Looks beautiful there…draws your eye right to the great height of the area! Doesn’t clutter the stairway like sometimes too many pictures do…although depending on the staircase (if not an open one like your is) I like various pictures, too! ANYWAY…I really like what you did!
