Create easy diy magnets for a fun home craft project.

These easy DIY magnets are perfect to share your faith, get organized in style or just make as a fun craft. I love these magnets because you can make them as a DIY adult craft or bring the kiddos in and make them together. Either way these magnets are simple to make and fun to express yourself through.

I made these little magnets because I needed a quick place to hang things next to my desk while I work. I wanted something cute and functional. I used a silver tray from the thrift store as my magnetic board, but you could just as easily use a tin tray or baking sheet to fit your needs. Get creative!

DIY Magnet Supplies:

How to make DIY Magnets:

  1. I used air dry clay that I picked up at the store, you can use baked clay as well, just follow the directions on the packaging.
  2. Roll the clay into small balls.

  1. Flatten with your hand or the bottom of a cup to make a small disk.
  2. Use your small letter stamps to gently press into the clay. Small words work best – joy, love, pray, bless, smile, sweet, to do , faith, hope, initials, hot, cold, done, pretty, bold, kind, file.
  3. The clay is soft and if you press too much you can tap out any indentions with your finger, no worries.
  4. Press around the circle and word with a small thin object like a dowel or fork. Feel free to make other designs and impressions in your clay magnets.
  5. Allow the clay to dry completely, usually overnight.

  1. Water down some acrylic craft paint and use it as a glaze over your clay magnet. Work quickly and load a soft brush generously with paint. You don’t want to go over the surface to much or it gets kind of muddy.
  2. Allow to dry.
  3. Adhere the magnet to the back. I used self adhesive magnets, but if you don’t try E600, Gorilla Glue or Fabri-tac to do the trick!

  2. Love the idea of the Magnets! I think this is a great project to do with my 10 yr old grandson Wyatt! He is doing his online studies here with me during this COVID-19 lockdown. He loves trying new things and he loves God! We are sending ideas to his teachers to share with students. May we share this with Staples Elementary School students in Joshua, TX??
