How to Make Paper Flowers
Old sewing patterns are awesome. They are cheap, easy to find and provide a touch and texture you can’t get anywhere else. Below are some simple steps to make a beautiful flower out of old patterns you can easily pick up at almost any thrift store, if not your own craft room. 
Sewing is not my gift, but I love remembering all the amazing clothes my mom used to make me growing up. She is uber talented. These flowers make me think of her. Here are FIVE ways to use these pretty little paper petals plus a DIY tutorial on how to make these fun paper flowers.
I doubt you will think of my mom when you see these flowers in your home. A better reminder is that like these flowers that never die, neither does God’s word. See the directions below.

Supplies for Pattern Flowers: old sewing patterns, scissors, pipe cleaner, Optional slide paper cutter
Cut pattern paper into squares. I use 5X5 and 8X8 inch squares for my flowers.
Fold squares in half
Fold accordion style
Make your paper look like a fan…
Pinch the flower in the middle.
Wrap pipe cleaner around the center.
Trim the edges, using the shape you like, soft corners, fringe, etc..
Gently open the layers, pull apart and tweak to your liking. Use any of these fun ideas to put your new paper flower to work, or come up with your own ideas and tell me about them!

I love this look. I love flowers: Paper, fabric and Real. I’ve made “coffee filter” flowers and bought the brown filters for a more earthly look, but this is a different “natural” hue.

I love these!! Sounds like we had similar childhoods. Moms that made us beautiful clothing and us not really being able to sew. But face it – when you have a wonderful mom making you such awesome clothes why bother doing it yourself? ????

Kim, awhile back, I saw your video version of this craft and couldn’t bear to cut up my old patterns. However, at this point, I’ve collected and inherited way too many retro patterns (bordering on hoarding) so I am looking forward to making these flowers, now. ????

I dont know if I missed it, but how many sheets do you put together before you fold them in half and do you use the 5×5 and 8×8 in the same flower or by themselves? Thank you for another great project.

It just depends thre or four usually works, too many and they dont separate well!!
