I’m thankful for…these are the only words that come to me today. God must really be telling me to reflect. Take time and breath. I had other posts planned for today. But that is ok. I think I am also a little inspired by my new friend’s blog and the way she starts each week. With a grateful heart. (Check her out at she is precious, sweet and kind) And she inspires others to start their week the same way. I’m a little behind, but better late than never. Here are a few things that I am thankful for today…
This is our house…I am beyond grateful/thankful/joyful about it…
We have two gigantic Blackberry bushes in our garden. I am thankful for the fact that they are COVERED in promise. Green, red and some ripe black berries are literally all over the place. I know the yummy fun to come when my kids get to pick buckets full of berries. They adore our garden.
Then there is our lush grapevine, drooping with the weight of baby grape clumps. We had a ton of grapes last year, but I didn’t know what to do with them. They were heavy on seeds. This year, I am more prepared and plan on making jelly. I’m thankful for how beautiful they are and that experience has taught me to plan better.
My heart is always thankful for our Magnolia tree. We live in the South, but not in an area they do very well. Our tree is old and looses half it’s leaves this time each year. I keep thinking we are going to loose it, but it fills back out and never stops showing off with it’s flamboyant big white flowers.
The little volunteer Elephant Ears that show up every year and bring more friends each time put a thankful smile in my heart. I love them. They make me happy. They make me know the sweet lady who lived here years and years before me and I have something in common. It reminds me that seeds you plant today will likely be enjoyed and fruitful way out in the future. And you might not even know.
Then there is this happening at my house…
And I feel a little sad. Well, really a lot sad. And I think that is why God will only let my mind rest on the things I am thankful for.
You can refer back to the top picture to grasp how huge and beautiful this precious tree was. But, it was diseased and was dropping huge branches at random times and for no reason. Part of it just fell of when they were cutting in down. I am thankful for my wise husband. He knows a thing or two about trees. I trust him. He knows how much I hated to see this happen, but reminded me how crazy I would be when that huge tree fell on our house, directly over the dining room and crushed my favorite china hutch (picture here). He knows me well. The tree had to go.
I am thankful for our past employee who we were able to hire to cut down this tree for us. He is amazing, gifted and talented at what he does. His job was incredibly hard and dangerous. I am thankful he and his crew finished safely. It is nice to have people you trust. Here is me trying to smile and show you the diameter of this tree!
That is all about the beauty of the outside in my week. The inside part has been good too.
I’m thankful for finishing up a fun decorating project I will show you soon. I’m grateful for all the experience and insight I have gained in the past few weeks. I am thankful for the new blogging friends I’ve made. I’m thankful for the pow wow they invited me to. I’m thankful for the sweet wisdom they shared and the peace God has settled in my heart through words they said that I needed to hear.
I am thankful for sweet time with friends. For a weekend getaway, sitting by a peaceful lake. I’m thankful for my new Jamberry nails that I can’t wait to try. The list goes on, but I will refrain.
I hope you will be inspired to take a moment and look at the little things around you that make your heart thankful, grateful and full.

Thanks Cassie…I was sad to see the giant go 🙁 We have been putting it off for a long time now. My husband said last night he slept like a baby through the storms we had because he didn’t have to worry about waking up to that tree on our house!
🙂 This entire post of yours makes me smile. I love that God is encouraging you to rest in all of the good things. The wood from that tree is beautiful, Kim! Is there something you can do with it? Some type of craft to keep in your home?!
