Whenever I see old cutting boards at garage sales and thrift stores I scoop them up. They are usually inexpensive because they are well used and it’s not something most people want to buy second hand. I don’t buy them for the kitchen though, at least not in the traditional wooden cutting board sense! This cute little project combined a garage sale wood cutting board with a unique curbside find!Cute DIY ideas to upcycle old wood cutting boards into decor. A few streets over I found these two old wedding candelabras on the curb. They are the traditional heavy iron models you see up at the front of the church with candles and bad greenery. They were even still wearing some awful fake ivy. In typical fashion I had no idea what I was going to do with these babies, but I knew they were cool. Free is so fun. I’ve used them at  shows to hang t-shirts from, they are really cute for merchandising, but I don’t really sell stuff. Instead I decided to dismantle them and use the cute little flowers! Cute DIY ideas to upcycle old wood cutting boards into decor. This one uses old wedding candelabras for home decor!

Displaying free printable art is always fun and a great way to change up your house weekly, monthly or seasonally…for cheap. Having a great spot to display them is key and this cutting board was perfect to upcycle into a cut display board. You could just as easily use it to hang photos from, kid’s artwork or your weekly menu. You don’t even have to use a cutting board, a slab of wood would work too. I just like the patina old used wood has.Cute DIY ideas to upcycle old wood cutting boards into decor. This one uses old wedding candelabras for home decor!

I did start by cleaning up this old board with my new favorite wood restorer. Next I rummaged through my miscellaneous hardware box for extra knobs and marbles. It was fun to just play around with different pieces and parts until I got a layout I liked. Next I either used a screw to secure the flowers, drilled a hole for a screw to secure the knobs or used heavy duty glue to secure the marbles and beads. Cute DIY ideas to upcycle old wood cutting boards into decor. For the printable hanger I used an old Christmas ornament, have you seen these? They held candles on the tree…fire hazard! But oh so cute! You could use a clothes pins instead. I know not everyone has a box of metal flowers, but collecting odds and ends can lead to something sweet! Cute DIY ideas to upcycle old wood cutting boards into decor. 1. oh my!! I really need the art page you clipped to your board. I’m still working on giving it all to Him and trusting He has my best interests at heart. Crazy I know but I still struggle with that issue, but with His help I’m getting closer to letting go completely. Love your blog.

  2. What a fun creative idea. Kind of reminds me of when my daughter was growing up. I’m a creative and so isn’t my daughter. Any snippets or baubles I had left in a project, I would put them in a cardboard box and give it to her when it was filled. So many beautiful projects came out of it. It’s fun creating something out of nothing or almost nothing. Great job!
