Plant Drying Rack DIY
The glorious plant drying rack DIY that I’m totally in love with. It’s amazing. I can’t wait to show you. You should know it’s quite possible I’ve scarred my children for life with all of the roadside flower picking trips I’ve drug them on. Luckily, I have sweet children who begrudgingly go along with my never ending obsession of Texas wildflowers. They take turns offering to help me pick them and I’m certain it comes from a deep place of feeling sorry for what they think, at their age, is a lame passion. It would be so much cooler if I was into video games. 
I tell them someday they will miss these days. Someday they will drive down the road with a car full of my grandbabies and see the Queen Anne’s Lace starting to bloom and get the sudden urge to pull over and snatch up a handful. Who know, maybe someday one of the three will even ride around with garden gloves and clippers in their car door pocket like their dear old mom does. 
It could happen. 
I’m pretty sure this little slice of French country-esque gorgeousness that now hangs on our back patio will completely seal the deal on their love of free florals via Mother Nature.
Even if it doesn’t I’ve already won my husband over by making sure he’s seen how cute this plant drying rack is. I know he’s so impressed. ????????
I’ve had this vintage baby bed mattress spring for years. It’s changed addresses and decorated a mantel or two in its day. I always wanted to use it to dry flowers and herbs, but there never was the perfect spot for it. Until now. 
So I hung it from the porch ceiling and used the same supplies and idea as on the hanging baskets I just shared. And then I got to hang the latest and greatest plants I could gather. And my heart literally skipped a few beats. 
I really do hope that my babies will see the flowers on the roadsides and notice the fields in bloom and pick the loveliness from pastures and trails. They smell so much better than a video game. Love the idea of using a bed spring
What do you do with the dried flowers. Mine seem to get brittle where I can use them for anything
well I either use them to lay over a basket on the wall, put in a vase of lay on a table for a centerpiece. I will likely leave some of these up on this rack because I love how they look here and if they get to crispy I will chunk them and start over! That’s the best part of roadside flowers! FREE! 😉
I love dried flowers especially Rose’s and my all time favorite Lavender. This is adorable and adds so much character and charm.
Your babes will have these family memories as they age and to me that’s priceless.

My favorite wild flowers are beautiful Queen Anne’s Lace. Later in the summer I will be teaching our grands in our grandparents’ camp about the Holy Spirit.
When you place the wild flowers in a vase of colored water the Queen Anne’s Lace turns that color, just as we change when we are filled or saturated with The Spirit.

This all made me laugh – I too would stop roadside in Upstate NY where we grew up. If I saw thistles or milkweed pods it was surely a pull over moment! One time a customer where I worked asked me what I was doing in a field by the road one day – he saw me out there and wondered! Unfortunately I was never prepared with clippers, so had to improvise. I also often got wet feet since most of them grow in wet areas.
BUT I made lots of decorations with those finds, and even though I now live in Florida, when I go up to visit my daughter we are known to pull over quick for some pods if I see them! I have to say I adore Queens Anne Lace, and miss them a lot…BUT, I made a flower press that travels to NY in the summer as well. Keep on enjoying those finds with the next generation – always great to be enjoying nature.
