Things to Do With Old Lampshades

Old lampshades are a dime a dozen at thrift stores and garages sales. One of my favorite (and easiest) projects was from a dollar shade I bought on a whim at a garage sale just because I liked the bones of it. There are fun things to make your lampshade completely new or a few great ways to update out of style lampshades you already have. I even have a few inspirations for alternates to lampshades! What really got me thinking about lampshades recently was my last trip to Round Top…I saw the sight below and was SO in love with the whimsy and fun of it!

Trends from the 2017 Round Top Antiques Week Show in Texas. Galvanized everything, woods and whites, nature decor, chicken coop and farmhouse heaven, unique storage ideas, succulents, wooden crates and tons of texture round out the list!

Here are a few “make it new” ideas:

In case you haven’t check, new lampshades can be expensive and I can never find the right one…is it a harp or screw type attachment, ughhh.   8. I took to matching lampshades and after removing the fabric, I put the tops together with a nut and bolt to keep them together. Then added a round glass top now I have an airy table for the porch in summer.
