If you happen to be spring cleaning your kitchen and find something like this or stumble on one at a thrift store they are SO SIMPLE to make over! All I did was clean them up and cut some wood to fit (well, my husband actually cut the wood because he was being sweet and helping me out!) I used some thin wood I had leftover from another project, cut and sanded down. Then my sweet friend showed me how to condition the wood for food safety. You could easily retro fit a cutting board you have on hand or find at a thrift store or add glass if you want a more butcher block look.   2. Did you just use tiny screws to attach the wood? I LOVE this idea! I have a few of these servers and have always wondered just what to do with them, since the glass dishes are hard to find to fit them

    1. I actually haven’t attached the wood, I wanted to be able to remove it, but I would likely use an all purpose glue if I wanted to secure the wood. I thought it would be easier to clean if you could remove the wood insert!

  6. I love this! I did something similar with a round casserole frame and I chalk painted the frame and the wood bottom. It was a perfect little tray to carry glasses of iced tea to our patio!

  7. I’ve cut a piece of wood and did mosaic on it with the words Bon Appetit and flowers and sealed it to be used as serving platter.
