Cardboard can be used for any number of things, shipping, packaging, moving, or even crafting new decor for your home!! In fact, I’m about to show you how EASY it is to use cardboard to create faith-inspired decor… but keep in mind this concept can be used to create SO many different types of decor!

what you’ll need to create faith-inspired decor

from cardboard to decor

  1. Firstly, you need to create your cross shape! This is completely personal and up to you, just make sure to make the horizontal pieces shorter than the vertical ones, or else you’ll have a large plus sign. 2. Next, cut strips of cardboard… mine were about 4 inches x 1.5 inches or so, but again, totally personal choice and there’s no wrong here. Cut about 3 or 4 of the same size you can stack.
  3. Speaking of stack, go ahead and use hot glue to stack those one on top of the other. Set it to the side for now!Create beautiful cross decor with only cardboard and a couple supplies! 4. Use mod podge to attach your book page or hymnal to the cross. After attaching it, I cut the edges off and used a sanding sponge to make the edges a bit more clean!Create beautiful cross decor with only cardboard and a couple supplies! 5. Use your brown paint and cover the “block” you created for the base of the cross. This makes it look a bit less like cardboard… and it doesn’t have to be perfect because we’re going to cover it up some later!
  6. Using that same brown paint, I also ran a sponge brush along the edges of the cross to warm it up a bit.
  7. Use an exacto knife to cut a slit about the size of the bottom of your cross in the stacked cardboard “block.” To do this, I just lined the cross up to the block, and while holding it there made my cut. Then, simply insert your cross into that slit. If you want, you can use hot glue to reinforce it! Create beautiful cross decor with only cardboard and a couple supplies! 8. Lastly, I added hot glue around the base of the cross and glued down spanish moss.
