If you’ve ever opened your journal, stared at that blank page, and immediately felt stuck… you are not alone. I hear this from women all the time. And honestly, I still feel that way some days too. A blank page can be a scary place. It holds so much potential that sometimes we freeze trying to make it “just right.”

50 faith jouranling prompts to Kickstart Your Pages because a blank page can, be intimidating and make your creative brain fog or freeze! If you are looking for a list of faith prompts to use in your journal this list is for you. Plus there is a free print out available to keep handy when inspiration is lacking.

Over the years of growing my faith art journaling practice, I’ve learned a few simple things that make getting started so much easier. When I strip away the pressure and focus on small, doable steps, I actually enjoy the process so much more. You might find that helpful too.

Here are a few quick tips if you’re feeling overwhelmed before we get into the prompts. FYI – You can get the entire list of prompts emailed to you, see the form at the bottom of this blog post.

Start with a smaller page.
When you’re new or rebuilding a habit, a full-size journal page can feel huge. A small notebook, an altered book, even an index card helps narrow the space and quiet the pressure.

Limit your supplies.
Too many choices can stall your creativity. Pick three things and call it good. Maybe a paint color, a pen, and one little collage piece. Simple is often the most freeing.

Set a timer.
Give yourself ten minutes and just start. Knowing you have a stopping point keeps you moving and shuts down perfectionism pretty quickly. It also lets you focus without worrying about what else you should be doing or if you’re spending too much time on your journal.

Use a theme for a while.
Sticking with a theme—gratitude, hope, God’s promises, prayer topics, whatever speaks to you—helps you find your creative rhythm and identify the styles and techniques you naturally return to.

Most importantly, let go of expectations. Move away from perfection and into presence. Just start. See what comes out. God meets us in the process, not the performance.
